Effective Date: [01.07.2026]
Version: 1.0
1. Purpose
This Deletion and Auto-Renewal Policy describes the procedures followed by Hostmedia LLC regarding the expiration, renewal, auto-renewal, deletion, and restoration of domain name registrations.
This policy is intended to comply with the ICANN Expired Registration Recovery Policy (ERRP), the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA), applicable registry policies, and applicable law.
2. Domain Registration Term
Domain names are registered for the registration period selected by the Registered Name Holder, subject to the minimum and maximum registration periods permitted by the applicable registry.
The expiration date of each domain name is displayed within the customer’s account.
3. Expiration Notifications
Hostmedia LLC sends expiration reminders to the Registered Name Holder using the email address associated with the domain registration.
Notifications are generally sent:
- approximately one month before expiration;
- approximately one week before expiration;
- shortly before the expiration date.
Additional reminders may also be sent after the domain has expired, where applicable.
Failure to receive an email notification does not relieve the Registered Name Holder of the responsibility to renew the domain name before expiration.
4. Auto-Renewal
If automatic renewal has been enabled by the Registered Name Holder and a valid payment method is available, Hostmedia LLC will attempt to renew the domain name automatically before or shortly after the expiration date, subject to registry rules.
Automatic renewal cannot be guaranteed if:
- payment authorization fails;
- the payment method is invalid;
- the registry does not permit renewal;
- other technical or contractual limitations apply.
5. Manual Renewal
Domain names may be renewed manually at any time before expiration through:
- the customer portal;
- the reseller portal;
- the REST API (where applicable);
- customer support.
Renewal requests are processed after successful payment.
6. Expired Domain Names
If a domain name is not renewed before its expiration date, the registration may expire.
Depending on the applicable registry’s policies, the domain may:
- remain renewable for a limited post-expiration period;
- be placed on hold;
- stop resolving;
- enter the Redemption Grace Period (RGP);
- be scheduled for deletion.
The exact timeline depends on the policies of the applicable registry operator.
7. Redemption Grace Period (RGP)
Where supported by the applicable registry, an expired domain name may enter the Redemption Grace Period.
During this period, the Registered Name Holder may request restoration of the domain name.
Restoration is subject to:
- registry support for the Redemption Grace Period;
- payment of the applicable restoration fee;
- payment of the applicable renewal fee.
Restoration requests are submitted to the registry using the appropriate registry procedures.
Hostmedia LLC cannot guarantee successful restoration once a domain has entered the Redemption Grace Period.
8. Pending Delete
Following the Redemption Grace Period, many registries place the domain name into the Pending Delete status.
During this stage:
- renewal is no longer possible;
- restoration is no longer possible;
- the domain cannot be transferred.
Once deleted by the registry, the domain name may become available for registration by any party, subject to registry policies.
9. Deletion
A domain name may be deleted if:
- it is not renewed;
- it is not restored during the Redemption Grace Period;
- deletion is required under applicable registry policies;
- deletion is required by law or by applicable contractual obligations.
Hostmedia LLC does not guarantee that an expired domain name will remain available for restoration until the end of any particular period.
10. Redemption Grace Period Fees
Where a registry supports restoration through the Redemption Grace Period, the following fees apply:
| Service | Fee |
|---|---|
| Redemption Grace Period Restoration | Displayed on the current Pricing page |
| Domain Renewal | Standard renewal fee for the applicable TLD |
Applicable fees may vary depending on the registry and the top-level domain.
Current pricing is available on the registrar’s Pricing page.
11. Transfers of Expired Domain Names
Transfers of expired domain names are subject to:
- the ICANN Transfer Policy;
- registry requirements;
- the current status of the domain name.
Certain domain statuses may prevent transfer until the domain has been renewed or restored.
12. Exceptions
Some country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs) and sponsored top-level domains (sTLDs) may have expiration, renewal, redemption, or deletion procedures that differ from those described in this policy.
In such cases, the applicable registry’s policies shall prevail.
13. Limitation of Liability
Hostmedia LLC shall not be liable for:
- failure of the Registered Name Holder to renew a domain name;
- inaccurate or outdated contact information;
- failure to receive reminder emails;
- deletion of a domain name in accordance with registry policies;
- inability to restore a domain name after the applicable restoration period has expired.
14. Policy Updates
Hostmedia LLC may update this policy from time to time in order to comply with:
- ICANN Consensus Policies;
- the Registrar Accreditation Agreement;
- registry requirements;
- applicable law.
The latest version of this policy will always be published on the Hostmedia LLC website.
